FWRI coordinates the monitoring of sea turtle nesting activities through two separate programs: the national Nesting Beach Survey and the Nesting Beach Survey Index. Investigations are conducted through a network of licensees made up of federal, state and local park staff. other staff members of the government agency; members of conservation organizations, academic researchers; and individuals. FWRI staff coordinate data collection, provide training and generate annual survey data for distribution to field units, the research community, the press and the public.
